About Pam

PamPamela (Pam) Batten is a writer, musician, songwriter, photographer and generally creative individual.
Pam is 54 years old and identifies as 2-spirit or mixed-gender, trans person.
Using life experience coupled with many interviews and saturated with storytelling typical of an ex-journalist, Pam has created a powerful story about love, sex, poverty, desire, money and monogamy set in the steamy world of an escort agency in ‘Pre-Fitzgerald’ Queensland.
Driving Eros is Pam’s first published novel and she is currently working on 2 more, ‘Cassie: a strippers story’ and ‘Memoirs of a rock pig’.

Pam has also got a past in music journalism, having started BUMS Magazine in 1990 (Brisbane Underground Music Scene) and written articles for many street press including Rave magazine with weekly reviews and interviews.

Armed with a camera, Pam also shoots fine art, live music, Australian Bush scenes and just about anything she can focus on.

Combining writing and photography was very handy for Pam and she was also known as “Batsy the rock pig” when out and about doing social pics in Brisbane.

While Pams life is about creativity in all forms, working for almost 20 years as a software developer seemed a little mundane, but Pam found coding and developing to be one of the most creative jobs out.

Pam now works in a rural trade hardware outlet supplying building materials to the southeast of Qld, something that means she can concentrate on creativity and life away from work.

Currently Pam plays in Weezal and has done for many years. Other bands Pam has been in the past, The Cultured Few, The Casualtease, The Holymen, The BamBams, Funknose, Bad Dr Whiskey, HangDog, Bould, Barb and has done acoustic work with friends as well.

Whether writing a book, a blog post, or a song, Pam believes every second on this mortal plane is a chance to celebrate the good things in life.
